Longping agricultural park opens in Huangpu

Longping International Modern Agricultural Park at Dajisha Island in Guangzhou's Huangpu district was officially opened on April 28.

The park, which covers a total area of 6,662 mu (444.13 hectares), was constructed under the plan of Yuan Longping, who is known as the "father of hybrid rice." The site and the name of the park were also chosen by Yuan.

Covering three areas, namely Dajisha, Changzhou, and Shenjing, the park has been designed to become a modern agricultural park integrating agriculture, scientific research, and sightseeing.

The planting of the rice paddies was started on Feb 26 and the planting covering the whole Dajisha Island is expected to be finished by late May.
