Updated : 2020-04-08

An ecological corridor around Guangzhou International Bio Island in Huangpu district, one of the six demonstration corridors in Guangzhou, made its debut recently.

The corridor, which spans 6.6 kilometers in length, has a 2-km outdoor all plastic jogging track. People can enjoy the beautiful natural landscape while looking far into the modern urban scenery.

An ecological corridor spanning 6.6 km is built around Guangzhou International Bio Island in Huangpu district.

The construction of the corridor has made full use of the corridor's advantage of being close to river, as well as the local industrial characteristics in biomedicine, connecting various landmarks in Huangpu like Shuimo Garden, Carlton Hotel, and the Guanzhou Life Sciences Innovation Center.

Special corners for promoting biological science information have also been set up alongside the corridor to provide a diverse experience for visitors.

The corridor applies special materials like sponge, which boasts water seepage, anti-pressure, and wear-resistant properties, as well as has outstanding performance in anti-slipping and sound absorption. It is also expected to alleviated the urban heat island effect.

Rainwater gardens and sinking green space have also been built alongside the corridor to facilitate the natural accumulation, infiltration, and purification of rainwater.
