Huangpu's tram line starts partial trial operation

The first phase of tram line 1 in Guangzhou's Huangpu district starts trial operation from March 24. 

The first phase of tram line 1 in Guangzhou's Huangpu district has started its trial operation starting from March 24.

The first phase, running between the experimental school of Beijing Normal University in Guangzhou and Yonghe Xinfeng, covers a total length of 7.9 kilometers. The whole phase has 11 stations and three platform bridges.

The trial operation without passengers started on March 15 with a speed of 40 km per hour. During the remainder of the trial operation, the speed will be gradually elevated to 70 km/h .

It is expected that the first phase of the tram line will be able to start initial operation by July 2020 and the whole line will be open to traffic by the end of this year.

Once the tram line fully opens, passengers will be able to transfer to metro lines 21, 7, and 6.
