Huangpu applies advanced technology in analyzing water pollution

Updated : 2020-03-19

Guangzhou's Huangpu district has conducted the first trial of using hyperspectral remote sensing monitoring technology with the help of satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in analyzing water pollution on March 10.

The trial was jointly carried out by the Guangzhou municipal ecological environment bureau with the Institute of Digital Guangdong and its research institutes.

Compared with traditional manual monitoring techniques, hyperspectral remote sensing monitoring technology can increase the accuracy and efficiency in the fast monitoring of indexes, such as ammonia nitrogen, suspended solid particles, and total phosphorus, in the whole river basin. Another advantage of the new technology is that it reduces costs.
