The north part of China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City in Guangzhou's Huangpu district will see improvements in its regional environment this year to offer more convenience for local residents, announced the local district government on March 5.

Corridors of about 700 meters with canopies will be built at the north side of Jiulong Avenue to connect nearby bus stops to the two metro line stations of Hongwei Station and Xinnan Station, making it more convenient for pedestrians on rainy or sunny days.

The new corridors can not only meet people's needs in transportation and relaxation, but also become a part of the city landscape.

A total of 12 roads in the area will go through upgrades and renovations, involving an overall length of 14.16 kilometers.

Efforts will be made in the rennovations spanning the repair of damaged asphalt road surfaces, transformation of traffic facilities, replacement of manhole covers, new pedestrian guardrails, upgrading and transformation of road scope, as well as landscape greening on both sides of roads.
