A coach bus with 31 workers from Henan's Zhumadian arrived at the construction site for the second phase of the headquarters economy zone of Guangzhou Science City on March 2.

"We are so glad to be back and arrive here by the special coach offered by the government. Doctors also came here to offer health examinations for us," said one of the workers that is surnamed Fu.

Fu noted that he and his colleagues went back to Zhumadian for the Spring Festival on Jan 15, but were facing difficulty in going back to Guangzhou due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Fu said that they were all excited when receiving the notice from their company that a special coach bus would pick them up so they can resume their work in Guangzhou.

Doctors are sent to give health examinations for workers before they depart to Guangzhou.

"Most of our workers are from areas like Hunan province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. This batch of 31 workers can resume work tomorrow, as the local district government has offered huge support," said He Rui, project manager of the headquarters economy zone of Guangzhou Science City.

He added that only less than 30 workers had resumed work out of the 250 workers before Feb 10, and that the project faced a shortage in labor forces. Currently, a total of 150 workers have returned and it is expected that the construction project can fully resume operation.

All 31 workers that arrived on the special coach bus have passed the nucleic acid detection of the novel coronavirus and they will go through a 14-day medical observation. Workers can go back to their post during the next two weeks, but they cannot go outside of the construction site.
