Guangzhou's Huangpu district has opened an online service starting from 9 am on Feb 21 to allow local residents to apply for free masks, with a total of 10,000 masks available every day.

The service is available on the platform established by Huangpu district to carry out novel coronavirus epidemic control and prevention, which makes full use of information technologies and big data.

The platform has been used in various areas, such as collecting local residents' health conditions and their travel paths.

Local residents who want to apply for the free masks should finish the real-name authentication process on the platform and complete the health survey honestly before participating in the lottery draw.

Starting from Feb 21, the system is opened from midnight to 6 pm every day, and those who successfully get the masks can go to a local service center with their original ID cards and the confirmation codes sent by the platform to receive them.

Each person can get five masks if they are chosen on the platform and that person will not be able to participate in the application in the following five days.
