Founded in 1957, Guangdong Workers' Hospital is one of the most beautiful hospitals in Guangzhou city. It is filled with a pleasing ambience and fresh air in an area of 240,000 sq m, 70 percent of which is green land. 

The hospital is a general hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. A large number of "Guangdong's first" were born here, among them the first extracardiac surgery under hypothermia, the first minimally invasive surgery; and the first percutaneous renal puncture surgery.

The hospital has developed a complete hospital management system with a focus on personnel training. It boasts a group of senior and intermediate medical technical professionals with rich clinical experience, as well as sound and efficient diagnosis and treatment approaches and high-quality special services. The hospital, currently with 800 beds, was one of the first designated hospitals for medical insurance in Guangzhou, and is the designated medical institution for industrial injury insurance in Guangdong, the 120 emergency network hospital in Guangzhou, the designated hospital for free medical service in Guangzhou and Guangdong, the hospital that supports two-way transfer treatment with Guangdong General Hospital, the training hospital of Guangdong Huangpu Vocational School of Health and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, and the teaching hospital of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University. It has a distinctive psychiatric department, geriatrics department, and stone treatment center. Its supporting facilities are complete and its medical equipment is advanced.
