Celebration for the birthday of Jinhua niangniang (municipal-level intangible cultural heritage)

The 17th day of the fourth lunar month is the birthday of Jinhua niangniang, a goddess of child bearing. So on that day, worshipers of the goddess pay tribute to her in the temple. In the morning, lion dance troupes in the region swarm into the temple and take turns worshipping the goddess on bended knees.

People stage folk performances, and place bonsai, calligraphy and antiques in front of the temple. In addition, decorative lights are on display. Women organize gatherings, prepare for sacrificial offerings and invite theatrical troupes in celebration.
