Updated : 2019-09-04

Qixi Festival, also known as Qiqiao Festival, is one of the most romantic traditional Chinese festivals. According to Chinese legend, a cowherd and a weaving maid were separated by the galaxy and allowed to meet only once a year in heaven on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.

It's also called Qiqiao festival, where women honor the Weaving Maid, or the Queen of Skills. On the special day, women display handmade furniture and daily supplies, praying for good handicraft skills and a perfect marriage.

In Huangpu, it has developed into a grand competition and exhibition of miniature folk crafts with mass participation. Every year, the Qiqiao Festival offers a platform to women at all age to show off their amazing handicrafts and skills.
