The innovative platform, OnTime, was founded in the city's Guangzhou HI-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Guangzhou Development District and Huangpu district with an investment of 1 billion yuan ($145.4 million) by GAC Group, a Guangzhou-based automaker, technology giant Tencent, Guangzhou Public Transport Group and other investors.

It signaled that the district is making efforts to build a smart mobile transportation ecosystem and will help facilitate the smart city construction of Guangzhou.

The service will be later expanded to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and nationwide. It plans to invest 10,000 new energy vehicles in five cities within this year.

The OnTime platform is working closely with automakers to accelerate the integration of manufacturing and technology to develop customized cars with more tailored services in style, interior design, safety, smart systems, entertainment and social interaction based on the customer-oriented principle.

With the help of artificial intelligence and entertainment, the platform will strive to offer more smart entertainment and working space services for users.

The platform also highlights a smart early warning system to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers. Its customer service center and safety management center are on duty 24 hours.
