Guangzhou-Hong Kong Smart Manufacturing Special Cooperation Zone launched

Guangzhou Development District and Guangzhou High-tech Industry Development Zone held the launching ceremony of the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Smart Manufacturing Special Cooperation Zone and major projects such as Sun Wah Guangzhou-Hong Kong Town on May 28.

The main venue of the event is located at the Suigang Port in the west of the Guangzhou Development District, and the 10 sub-venues are located in Guangzhou Science City, Dasha North Road, Yuzhu, Huangpu Port, Changlingju and Nangang. [Photo/ hp.gov.cn]

The construction of 35 major projects was started: 23 industrial and science and technology innovation complex projects, 11 people's livelihood and municipal projects, and 1 urban renewal project. Five are projects of the world's top 500 companies.

The total investment of the projects amounts to 128 billion yuan ($18.5 billion), and their estimated output value or operating income is about 230 billion yuan.

The start-up project of the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Smart Manufacturing Special Cooperation Zone, Sun Wah Guangzhou-Hong Kong Town has a total investment of not less than 10 billion yuan.

The Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Exit and Entry Building, the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Independent Yacht Travel Wharf, the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macao Helicopter Passenger Station, and Guangzhou-Hong Kong Smart Manufacturing Cooperation Center, five-star hotels and high-end talent apartmentswill be built. It is estimated that the operating income will reach 100 billion yuan after the project is completed and in operation.

According to the construction plan, the Guangzhou-Hong Kong-Macau Exit and Entry Building will open a water route connecting the Western District of the Guangzhou Development District with the Hong Kong Airport and the Macao Airport.

After the water route opens it will take only 1 hour and 20 minutes to travel to the Hong Kong Airport, and 1 hour and 50 minutes to get to Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong. A 1.5-hour economic circle among the Guangzhou Development District, Hong Kong and Macau will be formed.
