Guangdong property protection center put into operation

The opening ceremony of the China (Guangdong)Intellectual Property Protection Center, a national major project for China's patent system, took place on April 30 in Huangpu district.

Qin Weizhong, vice governor of Guangdong province, and Chen Yong, head of Huangpu district, attended the ceremony.

As a national major project for China's patent system, the center started construction on August 17, 2017.

From that date the Huangpu district and Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Administration cooperated to work on the preparation of the center and its settlement in Guangzhou Science City with nearly 6,000 square meters of office space for business use.

The opening of the center meant it is ready to be put into operation.

The mission of the Center is to provide rapid synergy protection of intellectual property rights for emerging industries of strategic significance in Guangdong, especially for the new generation of information technology and bio-industries.

It will help speed up the pre-examination, confirmation, and intellectual property rights protection of patents, as well as operational guide and coordination.

So far, the center has completed registration of more than 1,600 enterprises and institutions in fast pre-examination, including new-generation information technology companies that owna large number of patents such as Huawei, Gree, Tencent, and TCL, pharmaceutical and biological companies, and research institutions and universities.
