Huangpu, Sun Wah Group reach cooperation framework agreement

Huangpu district signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement with Sun Wah Groupon April 14, with a total investment of no less than 10 billion yuan($1.5 billion).

Zhou Yawei, Party chief of the Huangpu District Committee, and secretary of the Party Working Committee of Guangzhou Development District (GDD) attended the signing ceremony.

The two sides will build the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Special Cooperation Zone for Intelligent Manufacturing in the west district of the GDD, and turn it into a pioneering zone for institutional innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area where systems of the mainland and Hong Kong will be mutually aligned.

Located in Xiagang sub-district of Huangpu district, the west district of the GDD has more than 4,100 high-quality enterprises, including 57 of Global 500 stature, such as leading manufacturing enterprises Procter & Gamble, Amway, Mead Johnson, Wrigley, Colgate, and Mitsubishi Electric.

The GDD gathers major industrial clusters in intelligent manufacturing, fine chemicals and food and beverages, with an annual output value of more than 100 billion yuan.

An internationally renowned conglomerate established in 1957, the Sun Wah Group covers eight sectors, namely seafood, financial services, high-tech, media culture, education and training, infrastructure, real estate and construction, and environmental protection using an extensive network of investment that extends tothe Chinese mainland, Japan, Macao, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore, Canada, Europe, the United States and Australia.

The Group is an outstanding representative of Hong Kong’s industrial and commercial circles as well as an advocate of the economic growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Based on the industrial revitalization and upgrading plan of the west district of the GDD, the two sides will jointly build the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Special Cooperation Zone for Intelligent Manufacturing in an effort to turn it into a demonstration zone for re-industrialization cooperation and promote the industrial revitalization of the west district.

On top of that, the Sun Wah Group will set up, in the west district of the GDD, its South China headquarters, the Greater Bay Area headquarters, an Intelligent Transaction and Service Center, an Artificial Intelligence Experience Center, a hub for land and water transportation, and other facilities.

Its influence and network resources in Hong Kong's industrial and commercial circles will be focused on strategic emerging industries such as biomedical, artificial intelligence, electronic information, new energy, and new materials, and inject them into Hong Kong's re-industrialization projects.
