35 major projects break ground in Huangpu

Huangpu district held a centralized construction event for major projects on March 1. Zhang Shuofu, member of the Guangdong Standing Committee, and Zhou Yawei, director of the administrative committee of Guangzhou Development district, attended the event.

The projects include 15 industrial development projects, seven science and technology business complex projects, seven urban renewal projects, and six municipal supporting facilities projects.

The projects focus on strategic emerging industries such as biomedicine, new energy, new materials and advanced manufacturing industries, as well as innovative carriers such as science and technology incubators and comprehensive science and technology innovation industrial parks.

There are also a large number of urban renewal projects, including renovation of old villages such as Shabu Village and Hongwei Village.

To date, Huangpu has attracted enterprises from more than 100 countries and regions and gathered more than 3,500 foreign-funded enterprises and 176 investment projects of Fortune Global 500 enterprises. It has become one of the most intensive regions for investment by multinational enterprises in China.

In 2018, the contractual utilization of foreign capital in the region reached $4.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 81 percent. The actual utilization of foreign capital reached $2.25 billion, ranking first in all districts of the city for the fifth consecutive year.
