The 2018 Cedar Holdings Guangzhou Huangpu Marathon is so far the first district-level marathon in Guangzhou, the first marathon hosted by a national level development zone and a China Athletics Association bronze road race.

The event consists of a full marathon (42.2km), a half marathon (21.1 km) and a mini marathon (6.5km), attracting 15,000 participants from 12 countries and regions like Japan, Kenya, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The oldest participant was 81 years old, and the youngest was only 4 months old.

After fierce competition, it was Elias, 35, who crossed the line first in the men's marathon, with a time of 2:12:29. It's also his first time to visit Guangzhou. He said that he has been running for 20 years all over the world. The racing track in Huangpu is beautiful with so many curves, just like the up and downs of life.

"Even though born and raised here, it's my first time to go to Huangpu port, in a way I could have never imagined," said Li, a local marathon fan. "Such an experience is just unforgettable."
